Tinny Dress to Peplum Top

See my full disclosure policy here.

Have you heard of the Flip this Pattern series over at Frances Suzanne? Basically, once a month, there is a pattern to "flip". They have guest posts and open up a linky party for everyone who wants to participate. This month is the Tinny dress from StraightGrain, and I decided to jump on board.

For my flip, I decided to make a peplum top. I kept the bodice the same length, but shortened the skirt so that it would be a peplum. I made the shirt out of knit fabric, so I cut the back bodice piece on the fold, since I wouldn't need a zipper.

I cut the sleeves and the bodice to be more fitted, since I was using knit. I also lengthened the sleeves to elbow length. I also made the collar one continuous piece, since I didn't need the zipper in the back.

It's paired with the skinny jeans from Peek-a-Boo pattern shop {affiliate links}.

Here's the top with the jeans.

What a great outfit! The shirt seems perfect for back to school and could go with so many things. As for the pants...how did you find the pattern? Did it fit true to size? I've been contemplating that pattern for a while.

Just saw this in the flickr pool :) Such a fun outfit! I made Anne yellow skinnies last year and she practically lived in them. Love the peplum top!

Such a great flip, Terra! You kind of Hanamized the Tinny ;-p
I love how you made the necessary adaptations to the pattern to make it suitable for knit fabric. Those fitted sleeves look gorgeous, and the top really seems to fit perfectly!

These colors together are perfect. And that you made the jeans is even better! Th peplum shape is so pretty with the blue with white polka dots. And knit will be so comfy and easy wash too.
